Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans cannot sponsor their partners for immigration. ImEq is working to change this. For the past six years, I’ve been intimately involved with them. First with a San Francisco chapter, where as I volunteer I designed a tri-fold in English and Spanish as well as an a show-stopping parade float for SF’s pride. Then in DC where I coordinated the DC chapter including an annual Valentine’s day fundraiser. This year I began doing design work for the New York office, including this package for the Safe Haven Awards presentation and benefit. The client was ecstatic. Feedback was tremendous and the event was a success. All around very good.
The theme — Seeking refuge from the darkness — came from my research into the benefit location, the Chelsea Art Museum, which had started life as a rest home for immigrant longshoreman. Be sure to click on the above image to see the entire set of images on Flickr.
Right now, I’m working on a newsletter and direct mail project for ImEq. More TK.
